The Kingdom At Hand

Nov 17, 2024    Marcus Stenson

Following the arrest of John the Baptist, Jesus launches His public ministry in Galilee. The results are explosive and the diverse crowds that followed Him, including Jews from Galilee, people from Jerusalem and Judea, and Gentiles from the Decapolis, created a unique assembly that set the stage for His most famous teaching - The Sermon on the Mount. In response to the tension, Jesus begins teaching His disciples through the Beatitudes, a series of blessings that describe the characteristics of those who enter the Kingdom, experience the Kingdom, and bring about the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. These teachings challenge our conventional wisdom and offer a radical perspective on what it actually means to be blessed.
