A People of Purpose

What if the church isn't just a collection of people trying to be good enough to escape earth? This exploration of Ephesians challenges us to see ourselves as the living, high-definition picture of God's new creation before a watching world. We discover that we're not passengers in a waiting room hoping for heaven someday, but active participants in God's masterful plan to unite all things in Christ. The letter reveals three transformative realities: we are a people of praise, rooted in the historical rescue of the Exodus and fulfilled in Christ's Passover; we are a people of providence, guaranteed by the Holy Spirit that our inheritance includes the renewal of all creation; and we are a people of purpose, chosen to be at the leading edge of what God is doing in the world right now. This isn't about private religion or individual escape—it's about demonstrating a revolutionary way of being human that shows our neighbors what restored humanity looks like. The fruit of the Spirit overflowing in our lives becomes the visible evidence that draws others to the God who planned this rescue from before time began. We're challenged to reject the waiting room mentality and instead live as the intersection where heaven and earth overlap, making the invisible reality of new creation visible to everyone around us.
