Joy
What's the difference between happiness and joy? This week we discovered that happiness depends on circumstances we can't control, but joy is something far greater - something that can't be taken from us.
The world tells us to chase happiness, but that pursuit leaves us empty and exhausted. Biblical joy is different. It's not a feeling that happens to us - it's something we actively practice. Even in suffering, even in the darkest moments, we can rejoice because our hope is anchored in something unshakable: we've been reconciled to God through Jesus Christ.
Romans 5 reminds us that we were once enemies of God, but now we're sons and daughters. We're justified. We have eternal life. That reality doesn't change based on our circumstances, our bank account, or our relationships. When we place our hope in Jesus alone, we discover a joy that the world can't understand and can't take away.
