I Can Work With That

Genesis 11 represents a turning point for the narrative of scripture. It's the ending of the prologue, the end of the beginning, and the beginning of the story of Abram, through whom God would fulfill His promise to undo what went wrong in the garden. This begs the question, "Why did God choose Abram?".

If we as Christians are Abram's descendants and fulfillments of God's promise to him, then there ought to be an identifying characteristic shared between the patriarch and the people of God's promise.

The answer is there, but it's buried in the most unlikely place - deep inside the genealogy of Genesis 11.
